    Hi,
I am using a question / answer based theme of word press. As one can understand that main contents of the website in can of a Q and A website are there in ANSWERS.
The theme I am using is at https://2code.info/demo/themes/ask-me/ – The theme uses posts as Question while uses function get_comments for answers (answers seems to be dealt by theme as comments).

After basic installation I posted few questions / answers and am now trying to figure out about SEO. Installed Yoast SEO plugin.
The plugin however, seems to be meant for posts /pages but I do not find a way to optimize answers / comments using Yoast.

    Can someone please advice.

Since comments are not something that you would normally have control of, Yoast SEO does not take them into account when analyzing the content on that page.

It’s not possible to add the comments to Yoast SEO’s analysis by default, but it could be done with custom development. Unfortunately, that is not something that we could assist you with.

We can have full control on wordpress comments if we publish and reply them after moderation. I get around 20 to 30 good valid questions everyday from the users to which I reply sensibly after moderation….and I have been trying hard to find a way of making them fully indexable, but so far could not have any success because all developers think comments are not worth indexing…which is not correct
