I am just learning wordpress and need to put my database info into my config.php file and I can not get it to open!! It keeps trying to open in IE and then when I click open it just opens window after window after window. If I chose save it just rewrites itself.

I read that it should be opened in something like notepad but HOW??? I do not have a clue. I have tried everything and it wants to “try” to open in IE, but it won’t.

How do I get this open – please tell me?

PS: assume I know nothing when you tell me – as I know NOTHING about wordpress or php and many other web type things I am learning.

PLEASE write out specific details/instructions! 🙂

PSS: Also I am seeing 2 config.php files 1 correct the other like this confi.php.php – I should erase the second one – right? Not sure how it got in there…… I am sure it is a screw up on my end 🙁

Open with Notepad. There is no such WP file as confi.php.php.

confi.php.php – This is not a WordPress file that I have ever seen???

as for opening the php file, I would right click on it and select “Properties” then under “Opens with”, select Notepad and then click “Apply” at the bottom of the dialog… this should make all php files open with Notepad from now on… use the same process for other files as well…
