It seems the conditions have changed and now under Product Type, all the categories are listed:

I believe that before this allowed me to choose Variable products?

Hi, thanks for posting this.

the functionality is working right.? I mean it does show the custom fields only for the variable products.

but the issue is there, I will release the fix ASAP.
