Issue: Placing my header images without having them stretched or cropped

Hello, whenever I want to place my header images onto my website I am forced to crop it a certain way or make it a certain size that I don’t like. There was a time where my theme allowed me to place my header image without cropping/resizing it. My main goal is to have my own particular set of header images that rotate randomly. Can anyone help?

I think you will find that the vast majority of themes impose minimum limits on the size of header images. This is to stop images looking distorted or breaking the theme design. If you’re looking for an image rotator, have a look at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cimy-header-image-rotator/ but even with that plugin (which I’ve used very successfully in a theme header) you’ll need to keep all of your images roughly the same size.

Crop them to the theme recommended size…if not sure, set back to theme provided header image and use a web inspection tool to discover it’s dimensions…using desktop software to resize and optimize such images prior to uplaod is always best…

    Thanks. This is perfect.

Just sucks because there was a point when there was a button that said something like “keep image size”, or something to that effect.

This picture rotator looks pretty nifty, and I’ll probably just go ahead and adapt my Header-image-making to the minimum limits imposed by the themes. This will make things easier.

    Thanks so much Esmi!

Thanks Seacoast! Yeah that seems to be the best way to fix the problem.

I’ve been using WordPress since 2003 and I don’t recall any button like that. Perhaps it was a feature of a plugin or theme that you were using?
