You do not have to move database you need to log in admin panel change urls so they are just your domain name and move all wordpress files and folders to root
You will find instructions here
http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
help! i tried following instructions and changed the wordpress address and blog address but after i clicked on save it gave me an error message “The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.”
I then moved all the files to the root directory and checked the url, it doesn’t work. I moved all the files back to the original directory and it looks messed up. Please help!
You probably missed Step 10: Reset Permalinks.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
i can’t log into the admin as the same error message shows up when i try to go to my log in page.
i tried using the fix code to change back to the original url for wp-login.php but nothing happens, not sure if i’m doing it right…
where exactly do you have your wordpress files and folders now
Everything is in http://us.pretty-lil-things.com I changed the 2 urls to http://www.pretty-lil-things.com which gave me the wp-login.php error. Now I can’t log back in to change anything, you can see at http://us.pretty-lil-things.com/wp-admin
I’m not sure what went wrong and I can’t log in to the admin panel
Both urls worked fine for me Clear your cache by pressing Ctrl+F5 and cookies and try
i still don’t understand how to get this to work, i just redid the whole moving thing. can someone please explain to me step #10 reseting permalinks?
now nothing works if you check http://us.pretty-lil-things.com and http://www.pretty-lil-things.com
did you make any changes as I am getting 403 error on http://us.pretty-lil-things.com/ that is because the permissions must have been changed.
Are this two urls for same wordpress or are they two different setups.
Ok I reread your original post and you want to move from subdomain name to your domain name would like to know what you have done so far as I am getting blank page your domain name.
all i did was change the urls in the admin panel, clicked saved, and moved all the files to the root folder.
then i got blank pages in both domain name and subdomain.
moved all the files to the root folder.
Did you move the folders three folders as well wp-admin,wp-contents and wp-includes
alright, now you can see stuff at the domain level but wp-admin doesn’t work…have i missed something?
Check permissions on the the folders they should be 755
yes the 3 folders are 755
after i input my login name and password it just gives me a blank page
