[Resolved] How to move a wordpress site to the "Live" area?

  • I have a website that was developed (poorly) by a web company, and due to their incompetence, I’ve had to re-develop the site myself, entirely from scratch. At this point, the whole wordpress site is in a sub-folder of my site for development and testing – in other words: ex mywebsite.com/wptest and the main URL still holds the original site.

I’m NOT a developer, so please go easy on the code-heavy answers, but here’s my questions…

How do I move the site from subfolder to the main webspace? I know I have to remove the existing site (I’ll back it up in case), but once that’s done, what’s the best way to move the site and it’s posted content to the live space? There’s video content in an uploads folder that would have to move as well, and I assume I’d have to re-set all the links and images, or do I?

    Help, please. Thanks, in advance…
