How to make your own classifieds website?

    I’m planning to make a website where users could publish ads (something almost exactly like AWPCP plugin) but it’s essential for me that there’s an option to add not only parent and child category of ads, but also grandchild, great grandchild, etc. As far as I know neither of WP classifieds plugins doesn’t allow that kind of categories, so I guess I’ll have to use default WP posts which do allow multi-level sub-categories.

    Please tell me how to start and what plugins are best for making your own Classifieds (for user registration, enabling them to post ads,…)

    Have you tried contacting the AWPCP plugin people in there support forum to see if they can help you create sub categories? A plugin is the best way to go. Otherwise you will have a hard time and lots of coding to create your own.

    Assuming you don’t find a plugin or theme to do this (and I’m sure plenty exist) you would probably need to use “custom post types”, “custom taxonomies” and “custom fields” rather than default posts. There are plugins to make that easier.
