    Hi JrBro,

    Thanks for hopping in the forum. The text field on this forum is a textarea field, these fields are usually used for contact forms. Since the plugin and MailChimp’s default forms are made to collect sign up data a textarea field probably wouldn’t be the best idea. If someone were to add more than 255 characters that data wouldn’t be collected.

    Based on your other questions in the forum, it might be best to try a more advanced signup/contact form option. For example, Gravity forms has an integration with MailChimp and has more options including conditional fields like the checkboxes/radio buttons you mentioned earlier.
