How to make sure I can recover WP site with FTP

    I have a WordPress site up and running and have my FTP client set up as well. I am a noob developer so I’m worried about breaking my site and not having a recovery. How do I ensure I can make a recovery in the case of such an event, and how would I do so in such a case? Is there something I should make sure is set up within my site or FTP?
