How to make “related products” feature smarter?

    Are there any recommended plugins or solutions to make “related products” smarter than it is by default? Paid or not – does not matter actually 🙂

    At the age when Sundar Pichai is talking about AI it can not be so that related products are chosen as random choice. At the moment related products do not make any sense in my store and I have not found any “smart” plugin or solution to solve it.

    When I had Jetpack “related posts” shown for products for 5 minutes then it made 10 out of 10 sense and relevant linking tire sizes to match in recommendations. If there would be possibility to use Jetpack engine to support related products it would be so much upgrade for this feature.

    Meanwhile, looking forward to hear recommendations to make upsell or related products smarter in and automated way.

    Related Products is a section on some templates that pulls products from your store that share the same tags or categories as the current product.

    These products cannot be specified in the admin, but can be influenced by grouping similar products in the same category or by using the same tags.

    I’ve seen related products work well, but you need to have a good category/tagging system, and a number of products to make it relevant.
