    please don’t edit twenty ten directly – create a child theme

    please post a link to your site to illustrate your formatting problem, and to get more suggestions.

    From what I can see, the height is being determined by this style rule:

    #access a {
        color: #AAAAAA;
        display: block;
        line-height: 38px;
        padding: 0 10px;
        text-decoration: none;

    If you alter the line-height to, say, 25px it works just fine, in FF at any rate. That is, the text stays vertically centered.

    So you need a style rule in your child theme’s style.css (or alter the main theme’s style if you must), saying:

    #access a {
        line-height: nnpx;

    … where ‘nn’ represents the height you want.

    HTH. Please let me know if it’s not what you want.

    BTW, do you mind me asking if you are aware of how to track these things down and test the answers using FireBug? If not, and if you want to know, just say.
