Sorry, no, that field is absolutely required. Question for you… why enter the offices as individuals? Would entering them as organizations be a better option? There is no last name field for an organization, it is is not required.

The reason I’m listing them as individuals (without last name) is because they will always be listed first.
in my Directory home page I limited the list to the first 10 organizations (total of my organizations) in order to use the search box to look for others.
if I list my organizations as organization instead of individual the order will change depending on the name of the organization and I will end-up having individuals first.
In another word, How can I make my search search all my items regardless of the category?
Maybe I’m just over complicating this and there an easy way to do it!!

I see. It sounds like you are using a template which support search and filtering by category. Is that correct?
You could assign all organizations to an “Organization” category and then use the category shortcode option to have the list “default” to the “Organization” category. When a user chooses to filter by a category, it will override the the category shortcode option.
The downside with this approach is search but it sounds like it just might not be an issue with your setup. With no categories selected, the search would be limited to the category set by the shortcode option. When doing a search when filtered by category the results will be limited to the current selected category which is how it works presently, so that would not change.
