    Hi there,

What is the best way to make changes to my blog/website, and still allow visitors to access the site?

I have installed the WP maintenance plugin which works just fine; but do I really need it if I wish to tweak my site, or is it used for major work over days?

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • Hi Dan

There isn’t really a low level/easy way of doing this that comes to mind. There might be one but not one I can think of at the moment. More advanced setups might have a staging site where they’d do work and then push changes from staging to live.

Thanks, Andrew, so I understand that the maintenance mode is probably the best way to go about this then?

If the changes are major, yes. Perhaps coupled with a time of the day you’ve seen in Analytics is a low traffic period. If the changes are minor then I’d leave the site up and try make it happen with the site public.

    Excellent, thanks.

For sure 🙂 All the best.
