how to make a PAGE have DIFFERENT POST

  • Instead of putting all your content into a single Post, you create a different Post for each section and then use a template that shows multiple Posts on a page.

    Because you are apparently using a purchased theme, I cannot be more specific. If you are indeed using a purchased theme, you should contact the theme vendor. If not, please post a link to the theme download site so the code for the theme can be examined.

    thanks a lot!
    i am not using a purchased theme, i am using a downloaded theme here is the download link

    it is actually a page not a post, i dont know how to insert different post on a page. like when you go to page and you creat a page for fashion how to you have several post that people can click on in other to read full post instead on letting them view it without ever clicking. thereby reducing the number of hits.

    i have but they wont reply me. i don’t thnik it has to do with the theme though, because i still could figure this out with the bbasic wordpress theme.

    EDIT: I really should have advised you to create a Child theme for all your changes. Otherwise, all changes will be lost if you ever update the theme.

    Your main blog page shows several Posts. Are you wanting something like this for the celeb-style page?

    If the answer is yes, you will need to take several steps to make this happen.

    First, you will need to create a new Category, probably named ‘Celeb Style’. You will assign this category to all Posts that are to appear on the celeb-style Page.

    Next, make a copy of index.php named celeb-style.php. Replace the comment lines at the top with this:

    /**
     * Template Name: Celeb Style
    */

    Now you need to add in a query to select the correct category for the page. Just above the ‘get_template_part()’ line, add in the query like this:

    $paged = (get_query_var('paged')) ? get_query_var('paged') : 1;
    query_posts("category_name=celeb-style&paged=$paged");
    get_template_part( 'loop', 'index' );

    Now create a new ‘Celeb Style’ Page and assign it the ‘Celeb Style’ template. When you show this page on your site, all of the Posts assigned the ‘Celeb Style’ category will show on it.

    One other thing you might want to do is use the Simply Exclude plugin to exclude the ‘Celeb Style’ category from the Home page.

    Thanks a bunch! vtxyzzy. i will try to do all you’ve suggested on my own. if i get shocked along the way i might need come back here.

    Thank you!

    ok Vtxyzzy, i am little bit stuck i tried to do all you asked me but i really don’t know what i am supposed to do when you say.

    Now create a new ‘Celeb Style’ Page and assign it the ‘Celeb Style’ template.
    how do i find the celeb style template and even assign the celeb style page to the template.

    am sorry am not a word press pro

    also i really dont understand this

    make a copy of index.php named celeb-style.php.

    make a copy of index.php named celeb-style.php.

    Use ftp or a File Manager from your hosting service to copy index.php to your local PC. Rename it to celeb-style.php and copy it back into your theme folder.

    Now create a new ‘Celeb Style’ Page and assign it the ‘Celeb Style’ template.

    Create a new blank Page and title it ‘Celeb Style’. Select the ‘Celeb Style’ template from the dropdown in the right-hand column.

    i tried doing it to the best of my understanding.
    i.e

    Replace the comment lines at the top with this:

    /**
    * Template Name: Celeb Style
    */

    Now you need to add in a query to select the correct category for the page. Just above the ‘get_template_part()’ line, add in the query like this:

    $paged = (get_query_var(‘paged’)) ? get_query_var(‘paged’) : 1;
    query_posts(“category_name=celeb-style&paged=$paged”);
    get_template_part( ‘loop’, ‘index’ );

    but when i got to my home page, all my posts where gone. so i had to go back to the main index template and undo all i had done previously to get back my posts

    Do not change the index.php file!! Make a copy, rename it, and change that.

    i downloaded the simply exclude as well i noticed that when i make a post and click simply exclude (front/homepage) what it does is it excludes all my post on the front page and leaves only that recent post on which i specified simply exclude. what’s the deal with that?

    If you go to Admin->Simply Exclude->Settings and scroll down to the ‘Posts’ section under ‘Front/Home’, I think you will find the ‘Include Only’ radio button selected. Change this to ‘Include All’.

    Thanks i think i just figured it out yay. all i did was put the category on the navigation menu and exclude the category from the home page using another category excluding plugin thanks!!!!
