Support » Plugin: A-Z Listing » How to list Pages only

  • Is there a shortcode to list pages under a category? For example I have about 50 pages under the parent “Profiles”. I would like to use this plugin to list all 50 pages.

    Can you help with this?

    Hi,

If “Profiles” is a page, is at the top of the hierarchy (with no parents of it’s own), and all the pages you want included are beneath it, then including the shortcode on a page which is a direct child of the Profiles page will automatically show all children of the Profiles page.

If Profiles is a taxonomy term (you said category, which is an inbuilt taxonomy), then currently there is not a way to show the pages associated with a term or multiple terms via the shortcode. The way to do this via PHP is documented in the FAQ under the title “How do I show posts from a specific category only”.

Ok, as when I was doing “[a-z-listing page-type=”Profiles”] it was showing blank so I didn’t think it was possible.

Perhaps there’s something wrong with my wordpress. As even using shortcode [a-z-listing] leaves the page blank. It actually prevents the rest of the information that’s on the page to disappear also, but when I remove the shortcode the rest of the content shows. Very strange.

If the page gets cut-off then it sounds like you’re hitting an error which is killing PHP before WordPress has finished creating the page. If this is the case then you should be able to find a message in your web server’s error log from PHP detailing where the error occurred, which might help me to determine how we should proceed.
