    I’m running a network install. When I upload a pdf and then “insert into post” as an admin, it links to the pdf directly. I like this.

    When I do the same as an Editor it links to the attachment page. You’ll never guess, but I do not like this.

    How can I make it link to the file for all user levels?

    When you upload any file, you have the option to link to a file or attachment. Once you’ve selected an option, that option is then saved as a setting.

    I’m guessing that the preferences are currently set differently for your different roles.

    Just try again as an editor, but make sure you look at all the options before adding it to the page. The option to link to a file should be there.

    Yep, that’s exactly right. Do you know how I can make it the default, like it is for admin?
