Support » Plugin: Ultimate FAQ » How to limit the number of faqs in a category?

  • Let’s assume I use several categories, where each ones have tens faqs. When I open it I get long list of faqs. For each category the lenght may be different.
Do you have a setting to limit the number of faqs in each category? For example, to show just 15 or less faqs in a category and link more faqs with opening in the new window?

    Hi akigleo,

To limit the amount of FAQs shown within a category, you’ll need to use the ‘include_category’ and ‘post_count’ attributes.

    For example:

    [ultimate-faqs include_category='category-slug-name,another-category-slug-name,third-category-slug-name' post_count='5']

In the ‘include_category’ part, you’ll need to add the slugs of your categories and if you want to display more than 5 posts per category, change the number in the ‘post_count’ section.

    Thanks for your kind reply.

Yes, I may to limit the quantity of faqs in a category. Unfortrunately there is not a link to more faqs.
I wanted to get something like that:

    – Category 1 (150)
    + faq 1-1
    + faq 1-2
    + faq 1-3
    more faqs (from this category)
    – Category 2 (350)
    + faq 2-1
    + faq 2-2
    + faq 2-3
    more faqs (from this category)

If I limit to list the faqs by post_count=’3′ I get trouble to show other faqs.
Another way is to demenstrate long list of all possible faqs.
I think this is not convinient. What do you think?

    Hi akigleo,

There is no functionality in the plugin for this, but there’s one possible workaround we could suggest: Have the “More FAQs” link to a separate page with full list from category.

    How to do this:

    1. Create a separate WordPress page (give it the name of a specific category, e.g. “Category 1”)
    2. Add a shortcode on this page that targets that category, for example: [ultimate-faqs include_category='category-1-slug-name']
    3. Then, on the main FAQ page, have the “More FAQs (from this category)” text link to “Category 1″s page

Thanks. I did it in the same manner as you kindly suggested.

I may just to ask to add such functionality for the future issues, if it is resonable. Pagination for long lists is desirable too.

    Thnk you for your work.
