How to limit the length of a post display on category page

    Hi,
    I know this is probably a WordPress 101 question but I can’t figure it out. I have a menu link that displays all recent posts for a category. The problem is that the entire post text is displayed when I only want an excerpt for each post in the display. Can someone please advise how I can accomplish this?
