It is a very good plugin and i want to make a theme using redux framework. I have only few questions that it is essential to use the redux plugin with the theme. I know how to use it one way is use tgm and then use the sample config file in theme and to integrate redux framework with the theme. The redux generator gives another option of embedding framework in theme without tgm. I want to know how that works whether i have to install redux framework plugin as well or i can embed without using the plugin. Can someone help just need a start i have created themes for envato so i am familiar with the technical terms no issue on that.

    Kind Regards,

  • I have the same question you do. What I did was I chose the embed option from the builder, and I also exported as a custom theme, using underscores. What it does is it gives you an admin folder within your theme. I found an options-init.php file which I modified a bit and it seems to work. However, I’m not sure if this is the correct approach. Also, I’m wondering how we could get security patches using the embedded method.

I’ve always used TGM to have my themes require Redux Framework be installed alongside it.

If you use the embedded method, the only way to get updates is to install the Redux Framework plugin normally, then it’ll be used instead of the embedded version.

If you plan on selling your themes at places like Themeforest, they won’t allow you to use the embedded method.
