# How to install SSL when HTTPS brings up a 401 Error

 * So i am hosting a server from work through ddns and i have installed a wordpress
   installation running wordpress running on XAMPP, and i am trying to install “
   really simple SSL” and that requires the site be loaded over https, as a result
   when i click to load over https i get a 401 authorization required error.

 * Apologies, my wording makes no sense re-reading it. What i have done is install
   XAMPP standard windows install. Then,created a database in phpmyadmin, then installed
   wordpress in htdocs. I then setup wordpress through localhost (system with a 
   static ip address) once that was done i used Dynu DDNS to get it accessible over
   the internet. But my problem is i can only load the page over http protocol rather
   than https and every time i try to access it via the latter i get an error 401

 * That’s more of a server configuration problem, not WordPress. The SSL certificate
   needs to be installed in XAMPP. I suggest to read more information about setting
   up a LAMP server instead

 * Ok, it seems the general consensus is leading to – use a different hosting software
   so im going to look into setting up a LAMP Server config instead. Thanks.

 * That’s correct. XAMPP is more oriented for development, not a full server.
