Support » Fixing WordPress » How to Insert Image in Header

  • Hi all,

    I’m trying to make a minor modification to my theme, and I’m completely clueless when it comes to php and css.

    I want to insert a small logo image in my header, just to the left of my blog title. I understand I need to insert some new php code in the header and some new css code in the style sheet. But I have no idea what to insert or where.

    I’ve uploaded the image file “header.jpg” to wp-content/themes/veryplaintxt/images. What now?

    My URL is http://blogsoupoftheday.com. The image I want to insert is in the top post, just for reference so you can see what I’m trying to do.

    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Greg

    Just put it in your theme’s header.php, before the <h1 id="blog-title">.

    Hi azaozz,

    Thank you for trying to help. Unfortunately, I’m far more clueless than you’ve given me credit for.

    What exactly is the “it” that I should place before <h1 id=”blog-title”> ?

    Here’s the relevant part of the header.php code:

    <div id=”wrapper”>

    <div id=”header”>
    <h1 id=”blog-title”>/” title=”<?php bloginfo(‘name’) ?>”><?php bloginfo(‘name’) ?></h1>
    <div id=”blog-description”><?php bloginfo(‘description’) ?></div>
    </div>

    So, please tell me what line of code to put in and where to put it. Thanks!

    You need to insert the image there. Something like:
    <img src="images/header.jpg" /><h1 id="blog-title">... etc.
    It would be a good idea to teach yourself a little html and css so you can control exactly where it shows and how it looks :).
