how to insert html code in wordpress post?

    how do i insert html code in wordpress post? I want to display the html code so it will display to end user.

    How can i do this? Also, on couple of topics i saw people talking something about widgets in Presentation > Sidebar. I dont have this option in my wordpress. I downloaded and installed on hosted machine.
