Support » Installing WordPress » How to insert a .swf file to sidebar with flashifier?

  • Hi, all
    after failing to insert the javascript clock to my sidebar, I decided to embed a .swf file [which is a clock] to my sidebar.
    I’ve installed the plugin flashifier from http://wiki.wordpress.org/Flashifier%20Plugin
    and followed all the instruction:
    [FLASH]%filename% , %width , %height% [FLASH] to my sidebar,
    but instead of the .swf I expected to see, the code is on the sidebar!
    What should I do to embed this .swf file? Lots of thanks.

    Try

    <embed>

    Put all your code here

    </embed>

    thanks, podz.
    my path to my .swf file /wp-content/clock.swf
    so which filename should i write in %filename%?

    I would use the full url, see if that works.

    sadly, no, podz
    the code i inserted

    <embed>[flash]
    %http://sv.formulx.com/blog/wp-content/clock.swf%,
    %100%,%100%
    [/flash]</embed>

    I’ve followed the instruction carefully, but still do not know why it isn’t working.

    Any plugin from wiki.wordpress.org has to be considered as ancient, so if what I first suggested failed, forget it.

    Sidebar.php is not run through any part of WP, so any method of displaying flash should work if you just paste it into that file.
    Have you tried that ?

    yes, i have tried to embed it, but it simply does not work,
    well, my file is at sv.formulx.com/blog/wp-content/clock.swf
    it is viewable in FF, perhaps if you could suggest me a way to embed to my sidebar? thanks

    I see no code ..

    Have you looked over at the macromedia site for how to use Flash ?

    yeah, i had, i know flash, and successfully embedded the clock to my old websites before, but not the sidebar at wordpress.
    well, the javascript thing didn’t work, so i tried this .swf, perhaps if anyone here knows how-to?

    thanks so much, podz, for your patience and time telling me this and that……. ^v^

    With the js, did you have the script as an external file, load it in <head> then call it in the sidebar ?

    sorry? i can’t get what you mean. ^V^

    Where is the flash clock script ?
    I’ll download it and see if I can get it working on my site then I’ll let you know how.

    ok, the whole link is http://sv.formulx.com/blog/wp-content/clock.swf

    if you use firefox, go to file and Save page as, that’s it.

    thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go look:

    It’s breaking my page and I’ll remove it once yours is sorted.

    In the sidebar, I have this:

    <object width="200" height="200">
    <param name="movie" value="clock">
    <embed src="clock.swf" width="200" height="200">
    </embed>
    </object>

    The file ‘clock.swf’ is uploaded to the root of the blog. That’s the same place as your ‘wp-rss2.php’ file.

    Give it a go ?

    could you please tell me how to make it then?
    i mean, the code for it.
    thanks a lot.
