How do I indent a block or paragraph with Gutenberg? I am sure I am missing something obvious but I cannot find it. With the previous editor, it was right on top. (I am indenting paragraphs in most of my posts so feel a little handicapped right now.)

Also, I notice that in lists, tab doesn’t indent anymore. That’s bothersome although the little edit box over the list does have an indent function. I hope this gets fixed.

  • Hi @pkl, I don’t think there’s an indent button for the Paragraph block anywhere, but you can use the Classic block to get it (and all the other features of the old editor).

The tab key doesn’t indent in lists because that causes accessibility problems; it traps keyboard users inside the list. There’s some discussion about it here:

Ian, when I select “Change block type”, there is no Classic block option. So, I don’t seem to be able to indent text, which if true is a serious limitation.

It looks like to you’d need to copy/paste the content into a Classic block, and from there you should be able to indent it.

All: To select the classic block, click on the circled plus (+) sign in the upper left of the editing screen. Several block and formatting options appear. In the “search for a block” field, type “classic”. Then click on the “classic” option below the field when it appears.
