• Hi. I changed host for my wp and would like to import my posts into my new wp. They are not the same version. Is it possible to do?

  • Yes, but …..

Import the sql, then run /upgrade.php before doing anything else on the blog.

If that fails, set up a testblog with the older version, import into that, upgrade that testblog, export the data and then import into your proper blog.

Just keep backups of the sql file in case something odd happens during the process.

    Thanks!

What about from FIVE WP installs into one? Do they have unique IDs or will they overwrite each other?

I used to use multiple installs to make “sections” for WP sites (before WP 1.5 and Pages etc.), but now to add plugins and upgrade WP I need to do it 5 times. Also, I’d like the plugin to work in every section, not just the one I’d installed it in.

In other words, do the different posts from the different WP installs have unique IDs or will they overwrite each other?

    Thanks for any tips.
