How to hide subcategories?

Hi guys,

on my site there is allot of categories.
I have broke them down to main ones and sub ones, however,
they all get displayed on the main pages, I was wondering if we can only list the Main categories , and when you click on the main category the sub ones show up, is there a way around it? Plugin or anything like that,
