Support » Plugin: Football Pool » How to Hide predictions other users ?

  • Hi,
I am a new user of this very nice plugin, but i was wondering how i can hide users guess/predictions from each other, so they only are able to see their own guess
after a date deadline has passed, as it is now after i have closed an prediction
pool, then users are able to see all other guesses under “player predictions”

There is no out of the box for this in the plugin.

If you have some PHP programming skills you could alter the working of the plugin to not return these links via the available hooks and/or to disable the output of the page.

Or, less complex, remove/unpublish the page from the Pages section (this will prevent users from navigating to it if they know the URL structure of the plugin) and use CSS to hide the link.

But, out of curiosity, why don’t you want other users to see the predictions when they are not able to change theirs anymore?

    Hi again,

Thanks for the answer, this great plugin…
Good idea about remove/unpublish the page, because i dont have any PHP skills 🙂
Well the reason for removing the preditions for other users is just a way of keeping the suspense a bit longer for everybody about the outcome of a match without the knowledde of what everybody else answers, so even if they got their answers correct, they still wouldnt know about the others users answers untill i updated the total point for all of them.

Another thing i was thinking was if its possible now or perhaps in future releases to have in the “preditions-ranking” after each match a leaderboard with all the users point and their ranking from 1-2-3-4-5…..
And then after the next question there would a new ranking with the points the got after that round BUT also with another columns showing how many places a user has gone up or down on the list compared to the previous ranking.
So if ie the first 4 users had 100 point on top of the list and number 5 had 90 point
the list would show top 5 like this
    place:
    1 user a – up X places
    1 user b – no change
    1 user c
    1 user d
    5 user e – down 4 places
I dont know if this makes any sense 🙂
    🙂

The ranking per round is already possible with the ranking shortcode. You can give this shortcode a date to show the ranking on that date.

The previous rank value is a nice addition that I will consider for the next version. Should be fairly easy to implement.

    Hi again,

I saw annother web page where they made someting like this, and think that looked nice
and i wondering if this was something like that you thought was possible to implement in your very good plugin or perhaps you have another idea for this wish ?

    Rank changes vs last update

This is easy to do when you have the old rank.

But I had a look at it and unfortunately previous rank is not as easy to determine as I thought it was. The way the plugin is set up, there is no way right now to store previous rank in a simple way. I will still consider it, but it may take a lot more work.

    Hi,

Thanks for the answer and i can understand that its not that easy but i will keep a hope for this feature in future releases together with the “golden ball” possible in every round.:)

But once again thank you for this plugin…
