How to handle many links in a link category?

  • I’m in the process of converting my music webzine from a custom database to WordPress. By exporting the different link categories I had to opml-files I can import them quite smoothly.

Now I’ve encountered a little problem. I have two link categories (bands and record labels) with many entries, say 500-1000. These would be too many to display on a single page. I have thought of a few options to make things more usable:

    a) some form of paging of the links, with next/previous options
    b) use templates with queries to make selections, for instance to show only bands starting with the letter ‘A’.
    c) split the link categories into subcategories, for instance a category for bands starting with an ‘A’, etc.

What do you think would be the best option and/or most easy to achieve?

  • I found splitting into categories helped when I had the same problem. I also set each category to have a maximum number of links (say 10) and then choose for those to be displayed in random order
