How to Handle a Huge Site with more than 25000 posts

    Hello Experts
    My website is a daily News Portal and based on WordPress. I have more than 25000 News and Daily adding about 100+ news on the site.
    I have a VPS with 3 GB Ram and Still it crash when a lot of traffic hits occured. In 2012 What I did is I have created a subdomain called archive.mysite.com to eliminate database load. But Still no luck.
    I have talked to my hosting provider and their final suggestion is to add more RAM and talk to my developer to optimize the script.
    I know even if I add more ram it won’t work. I am wondering if any expert can give me a proper suggestion to manage the site with balanced and stable browsing experience. I have Jarida Theme Installed and Some very Basic Plugins.
