I have Twitter Cards enabled in the settings, but they won’t show up on any posts. I have tried refreshing, clearing cache, etc. but it’s always blank.

I have used both Yoast and Rank Math Twitter Cards without issue, but it seems like the code just isn’t being added to the pages.

Actually, I just tested Facebook, Pinterest, and some others, and the header images are also not being loaded. This is just great.

I have looked at the page source and see that the Meta code is there for Twitter, but the cards/images are just not being picked up by Twitter or any other social media systems.

Any idea why, as like I said, both Yoast and Rank Math have worked perfectly in the past.

I think I know what’s going on here.

I have my image set to not display as a theme option, but when I enabled it Facebook, Pinterest, etc. all work with your SEO plugin, but when it’s disabled, the image disappears – this never happened with any other SEO program and you guys might be cheating by trying to link to the image on the page, rather than the post image link.

But either way, Twitter Cards are still DOA and I think I need to keep looking for a slimmer version of Rank Math.

I’ve been testing the plugin, and it looks like I got Facebook and Twitter working, but others like Pinterest and Mix just don’t see the Header Image unless I enabled it to physically show on the page – this feature worked previously with Yoast and Rank Math, so hopefully there is a solution.

    Hi @slango,

Thanks for your message. Please share the theme you’re using, especially the theme option that relates to “I have my image set to not display as a theme option”. I’m also not clear about “physically show on the page”. Can you please give more details on that?

It’s Newsup and this theme has a switch that allows the “Featured Image” on Posts to be hidden or shown – the feature image/URL is present and is used for other purposes (like thumbnails and shown on the front page) it’s just not displayed in Posts, but the image doesn’t seem to get picked up by Slim SEO (for Pinterest, Mix, etc.) unless it’s set to “Shown”.

The “Show/Hide Feature Images in Post” option is a very common feature, and is present on all 3 of the themes I’ve used on this site.

Both Yoast and Rank Math pick up the “Hidden” Feature Image, probably because these programs look for the selected image + URL in WordPress, rather than just what is being generated on the page.

Thanks for the info. I’m checking the theme and will let you know if I find anything.

    Hi @slango ,

I’ve tested with the Newsup theme and uncheck the option to show Featured Image on Posts. I see the source code shows the meta tag “og:image” properly, which is what Pinterest uses to show the image. Can you check if that meta tag is displayed on your site? If yes, can you try clearing the site cache and try re-validating again the page?

No matter what I try I cannot get the Pinterest social link to pick up the image, although it does if I go to the Pinterest site and manually load it.

Like i said, it does pick it up if I “unhide” the Feature Image on Newsup. I’ll check with the theme author to see if he’s doing something non-standard on the Pinterest side.
