How to get this progress bar working?

'<progress max="60" value="$lvltot"></progress>' ; }

    Everything works here up to the value=”$lvltot”. The progress does not give me a result.
    I do not see the use for this mark-up if you can’t make it dynamic, a simple image would work the same trick if you can only have a static value like ‘value=”50″‘ or something like that.

    So is it possible to make this work?
