This may be a basic question, but I can’t find the answer. Nowhere on my dashboard can I find a PLUGIN menu ~ the place to install & manage plugin. I have 2 blogs and it is there on one, but not on the other.

I can find plenty of info on finding, installing, managing, etc. Plugins, but no answer to this. Help out theree…?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have admin access level on the one that is not working? Only admins can manage plugins.

Are they both self-hosted WordPress sites? Do you have Admin status on both sites?

Ahh ~ administrative access. Therein may lie the trouble. Yes, I do have it on the other blog, although how it got there, I haven’t a clue because a much more tech savvy than I friend helped me get it started. The 2nd blog (the one I don’t have the plug in feature) I set up myself. So, how do I get admin status…?

If you set the site up yourself, you should have Admin access.

OK………So just signing in with my user name & password gives me admin access? And if so, then what?

If you can go to Authors & Users you can see your Role. If you can’t do that either you are probably not an admin. Only admins can manage users.

Do a forgotten password on “admin” see if you get any emails.

Ok, so it says my role is administrator. Now what?

If this is a self-hosted WP site and you have admin status (not just access), you’ll be able to see the Plugins menu item.

You would think, however, I cannot. That is why I am posting here.

On my other blog (#1), it shows up right under the Appearance pane (not in it, just under it, as in the next pane).

On this blog (#2) it is just not there at all. What am I missing? Do I need to be signed in some other way….?

Please list what you can see in the Admin menu on your problem blog.

While waiting for answers here, I continued to dig, and think I have found the answer. I am using WordPress.COM for blog #2 (where I cannot see Plugins) and most likely am using WordPress.ORG for the other blog that my friend set up. I say this because after reading an article on the difference between .com & .org versions (http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/) I am sure he must have done that since the address for that blog is my domain name and is on a hosted server. Blog #2 I just went to WP and set it up myself.

Like I said, I am not the world’s most tech savvy person, so this difference eluded me. So, guess I can’t have plugin on blog #2 unless I want to get more technical with it, which I do not ~ I just want a place to post some pics, nothing fancy like blog #1 which is business related and needs lots of bells & whistles. 🙂

Thank you everyone for your assistance.
