How to get the header wider than page content | WordPress.org

It seems like the width of the header and content have a kind of relation. When I try to change the width of the header or page they follow each other. So how can I get the header to go from side to side with no white space on the side, and the page content(one column page) to stay at for example 940px?

Try adding the following CSS rules either through a child theme style.css file or use a CSS plugin like Jetpack or Custom CSS Manager:
```
.one-column #page, #branding {
   max-width: none;
}

#main {
   max-width: 940px;
}
body {
   padding: 0;
}
```
