When my page gets loaded and i click anywhere on the page a pop up ad shows. Happens once every time the page is loaded.

I look in the source code and it has this pop up code: aria-haspopup. I did not add this code. It just started happening all of a sudden.

How do I get rid of this code?

It seems to be because of injection of adware. If you can post your site URL, it would help us find out why.

I’ve never had the problem with pop up ads.

It seems to be coming from the AdBrite script installed by you. A part of the code from your site is below:
    <script type="text/javascript">---(' src="http://ads.adbrite.com/mb/text_group.php?sid=2120042&zs=3330305f323530&ifr='+AdBrite_Iframe+'&ref='+AdBrite_Referrer+'" type="text/javascript">');---</script>

    Thats not it.

That pop up link is not an adbrite.

I’ve the exact same problem… I’ve broken the site… busy trying to get it back up and running.

Have you tried the usual trouble shooting steps?

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

all plugins are deactivated. Still the pop up happens on any click on the page.

I’ve switched themes and the pop up doesn’t show. How do I get rid of the popup code on the theme that shows pop ups?

Are you hosting your site on a linux or Windows server? I’m using Windows…

Linux. This problem only happened today.

Have you also switched to the Twenty Eleven theme and cleared your browser’s cache?

That’s a very specific set of code. If it’s not you doing it then ask your host. Some free hosts inject add code into the HTML.

The popup only happens on the theme I’m using. It doesn’t happen to any other themes.

I’m back up… http://www.kempstongroup.co.za but still have the problem.

Hey rob, I’m getting the same thing on my site. But its the theme I’m using. If I use another theme the popup doesn’t happen.

I’m trying to make a copy of my theme’s folder and then I’m going to replace it with a backup of the same thing.

Someone has obviously hacked our sites… once we’ve fixed the problem, how to we secure our sites?
