    I was wondering how i could remove google ads from my website. I dont know how they got there.
    They have only recenly started showing up, so i dont think its to do with my theme. However i did notice the change after i installed the google sitemap plugin….i have now deactivated this plugin but i am still getting the google (and other advertisers) ads appearing.

    My site:

    Can somebody help?

  • Open a browser and have a look at your source code. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and you will find the Google ad script information after the closing “</body>” tag. The Google ad is an iframe in the bottom of the page. I’m not sure what happened to you, but that is the most incredible amount of blank-space carnage I’ve ever seen! It’s as if the copy/past keys got stuck in your text editor! Best of luck to you.

    Second what ClaytonJames wrote, it’s a carnage.
    1. Compare your theme files with the original theme files from and upload clean theme files. Did you download your theme files from anywhere else? They could have added some rogue codes.
    2. Compare current SQL with previous backups esp with xx_options table and clean up.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I checked the source and i can see the google ads at the bottom.
    (i have now managed to fix that blank space)

    I downloaded the original theme from the start and i wasnt having this google ad problem until recently. But i went ahaead and downloaded the theme again and uploaded it to my worpress themes file. However this didnt sovle my problem the google ads are still there. To make it worse the second theme i uploaded replaced my original one that i had made changes to! (im guessing i have lossed this for good)

    The ads not only appear on my site, but also when im editing my pages on wordpress

    Go to your theme editor, open footer.php, remove the code that begins with “<div style=”text-align: center;” through “</script></div>”

    Make a copy of footer.php first, just in case you screw up.

    Hi, i have just gone to try this. And in footer.php it doesnt contain anything like you mentioned above.
    Heres the footer.php:
    <!– content-wrap ends here –>

    <!– wrap ends here –>

    <!– footer starts here –>
    <div id=”footer”>
    © copyright <?php echo date(‘Y’); ?> <?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?>

    Design by: styleshout |
    Theme by: Theme Lab and Search Optimization

    Powered by WordPress and Stylevantage
    <!– footer ends here –>
    <?php wp_footer(); ?>

    Do you use feedburner? If so, do you have Adsense Ads enabled in FeedBurner because it would automatically put Adsenses into your blog. Other thing I would try: switch themes, ads go away, it’s the theme, if not deactivate all your plugins.

    No i dont use feedburner, first time i have heard of it actually. Ive tried switching themes and ads stayed.
    I have deactivated all plugins. And i have even deleted the google sitemap plugin (as i did notice the google ads after i added this plugin).
    Still stuck with the ads (from google, tmobile, nokia)

    Maybe i should contact me host?

    I don’t see any google ads (or anything that resembles google ads) on your site. In any case, it sounds like your blog was hacked, but perhaps you’ve cleaned it up by now. Contacting your host is always a good idea when you’ve been hacked.

    Yes! It looks like they are gone. It was probably a plugin.

    Thanks to everyone who replied
