Support » Fixing WordPress » how to get index.php to read css

  • Hi – I’ve designed my css + xhtml and am trying to convert it into wordpress blog using Tessa Blakeley Silver’s book “WordPress Theme Design”

This is how it looks outside of wordpress:

I’m working locally on my hard drive. I installed wordpress correctly at

and the default theme showed up fine, then I created + chose mytheme and it works fine to that point. I can see:

displaying my index.php with no css formatting.

Now comes the problem. I replaced this line in index’s xhtml:

    <link href=”<?php echo $rpath ?>/1cde/style.css” rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” media=”all” />

    with this:

    <link href=”<?php bloginfo(‘style.css’); ?>” rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” media=”all” />

and I copied style.css out of subfolder \1cde into same folder as

but makes no diff – it’s not reading the css.

I also copied all the other files like header.php, recip.php into the mytheme folder, out of their subfolders – but each time I’m being told there’s no such file.

Please can anyone see what I’m doing wrong?

Do you know anyone – or anywhere that I can find someone – who will move my files (index, header, footernav, footer) into wordpress at low cost?

    thanks, Val
