Support » Theme: Spun » how to get images and text on circles

  • Resolved Michael Lanfield

    Hi everyone,

    The circles on the main page, which I use as a menu. I wanted to know how to add images and text on each of the circles. Basically I have text on on each circle now and I want to add photos and text. How do I do this?

  • Lol, it’s the same issue though…and turns out my css is being interpreted

    Anyways I’ll tag along and watch to see if you add anything new.. Looks like the same issue and same responses…

    Looks promising…i’ll tinker and see if it helps:

    Looks like that code will call the post title over the image but is a repetitive task per featured image…not a slick solution as you’d have to update each image post…let’s see if we can’t do better. Andrew…any new thoughts?

    same result. I tried this, already before as well. 🙁

    It wasn’t clear you tried this before.

    Use this PHP instead:

    <article id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>" <?php post_class( $postclass ); ?>>
    	<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr( the_title_attribute( 'echo=0' ) ); ?>" rel="bookmark">
                  <?php echo $thumb; ?>
                  <span class="hometitle">
                        <?php the_title(); ?>
    </article><!-- #post-<?php the_ID(); ?> -->

    And this CSS:

    .blog .hentry span.hometitle {
     position: absolute;
     top: 73px;
     width: 100%;
     text-align: center;
    .blog .hentry {
     position: relative;

    It finally worked! WOW! thank you so very much. I am so happy. I can do the happy dance. hehe!!!!

    Big kiss to you my friend.

    And we have a winner! Way to come through Andrew. I have to admit I had my doubts, but you pulled it off. Also note that you can now add a few fields to your css to change font, font size etc….I’ll play with it more and add examples if you’d like. Strange how the other code is working fine for some sites and not others. Perhaps the theme was updated in the last few weeks. I’ll dig through it sometime if I get bored with life.

    still one minor problem. the post (circle) entitled Other Activities appears twice. How to correct this?

    Looks like you corrected this as I’m not seeing that post icon on the home screen twice.

    Also it looks like your css could be cleaned up of some repetitive entries in there but I’m sure you’ll fix that…right?

    I am still seeing it, even in different browsers.

    I don’t want to touch anything because it is partially working now…

    Hmmm, you may have to clear your browser cache. I suspect you were testing your site in multiple browsers over this whole testing period so I suggest saving your work, closing your browsers, re-open one and see if it’s still there. If it is, sleep on it, then try again and if still there then create a new post specific to that issue.

    ok. Will do that when I am done. Thanks everyone!
    How to clear cache on Firefox 20?

    actually when I added a photo to Other activities it worked!!!!

    Can you replace your content-home.php contents (all of it) with this code ?
