The front page template of 2012 will display featured image aligned right ( like shown in the screenshot you linked to ) without you doing anything, it’s all taken care of by the theme.

What you need to do is just assign an image as featured.

Okay, how do I do that?

As it is, the image and text I put into the page I’ve chosen to be the static front page will show up as one after the other, not side by side as the picture shows.

Are you setting the alignment for the image to “right”

In 2012, if you are using the front page template as seen in your screenshot, you have to assign image as featured image for that page, so that the image will appear just like that, as shown in the screenshot.

When you edit post or page (in this case it’s a page) look over to the right, notice a box with label “Featured Image” from there you just Set featured image. If you don’t see that box, look to the top and click “Screen Option”.

But if you are using a page with normal page template that’s assigned to be static front page and you want image to align right, then review the link posted by WPyogi

    a bit verbose actually 🙂

That’s it! Thanks all for your help, and paulwpxp for nailing it. I knew I was making it harder than it needed to be!
