The shortcode will stay the same, but what you need to do is generate a thumbnail for the video in the WordPress Media Library. Open up your video and click on “Choose from video” That will allow you to select the frame you want to use as a thumbnail. Let me know if you need more specific instructions than what’s on this page https://wordpress.org/plugins/video-embed-thumbnail-generator/

I dont understand what you mean by the WordPress Media Library

The way I made it as close I understood your instructions now was:

    Create a new Post
Clicked on “Add Media”>Embedd Video from URL

    then I got:

    testme
[KGVID width=”640″ height=”360″ track_kind=”subtitles” track_src=”http://testme.com/0Sensation.mp4″ track_default=”default”]http://testme.com/0Sensation.mp4[/KGVID]

Could you please be more clear

    Thank you

This is the WordPress Media Library https://wordpress.org/support/article/media-library-screen/

You can’t use Embed Video from URL to make thumbnails. If your video wasn’t uploaded to WordPress and isn’t in the Media Library, you won’t be able to make thumbnails using my plugin.

    Hi again,

I am using an external video-url.

but I could display a Thumbnail from external URL,

so I don’t understand why that’s not possible?

    Thank you in advance

Browsers will not display a set frame of a video as a thumbnail image. They will display the first frame of a video or they will display an image as a thumbnail. My plugin uses the browser’s built-in video decoding capabilities to make a thumbnail on a Canvas element, which is then converted to an image and uploaded to your server. If the video doesn’t come from the same domain as your WordPress site, the browser will consider the Canvas element “tainted” and will not upload the image for security reasons. So, to simplify the security issues, my plugin only makes thumbnails for videos in the Media Library.

    ok Thank you :/
