how would I update the site
You’d login to their site on their host and do what needs to be done. That’s exactly how the client would do it, too. It’s probably a good idea to hang onto your local dev site in case you need to test some things out before doing them on the live site.
Thanks, does Bluehost have a built in cms or would I have to download WordPress within bluehost or once I upload the site can the client and I use the WordPress dashboard somehow, does it automatically integrate it? Also, does that mean I wouldn’t be able to use multisite to update because they’d all be on different hosts, I’d have to go into each individual account and update, but I could just use local host multisite to have the offlines in one place or could I have all the clients sites on my personal account while also having their individual accounts, so they can only access their sites but I could access them all?

Bluehost has a one click install. Once you get it set up, you can delete most of the plugins they install.
I’m not sure why you’re talking about multisite.
You could use multisite to manage the websites of multiple clients, each under their own domain name. You would be the super-admin, clients would have editor level logins, and maybe also a separate administrator too, teaching people to manage their own content is routine, lots of tutorials on youtube, and use teamviewer.com for remote coaching sessions.
However I do not manage my clients this way, instead I became a hosting reseller with a WHM managed hosting account, I resell hosting to my clients, I setup each with their own independent cPanel login (though they hardly ever use it). This gives my clients much more independence, I can create other than WordPress websites, individual IP address if necessary for SSL, manage their traffic and quotas etc. I can still manage all of them using my master WHM login.
That’s exactly what I was looking for, thanks Ross.
