[resolved] How to find why transactions are declined (12 posts)

I am using WPEC with Authorize.Net CIM. I am getting transactions that are declined. But it doesn't record what the error code was. I logged into Authorize.Net but those transactions IDs don't appear in the reports. My shopping cart records the transaction ID. Is there a way for me to find out why these transactions were declined?

Does anyone know why I get a lot of "payment declined" transactions? Its not making it to Authorize.net so that doesn't give me an error code. On the transaction that fails it has the customer's complete contact information.

First make 100% certain your A.net account is CIM enabled they aren't by default. Contact A.net and make sure.

If you are 100% positive you have a CIM enabled account next make sure your account settings are correct LIVE vs TESTING

Lastly you might need to open the payment module and have it var dump out wha it's returning from the gateway. If you're unsure how to do this you might want to open a support topic here http://getshopped.org/resources/premium-support/

Yes its CIM and I have double checked all the settings. The thing that is strange is, its not every transaction. So I am trying to trouble shoot without knowing what the user is seeing. Maybe they are not even getting an error.

Correction. On the "payment declined" transactions, the customer's details are NOT saved. So maybe they are leaving a field empty, it fails, and then it records the transaction as failed? Most have attempted twice. I have one where they tried three times.

Ah I may have an answer for you about this. CIM requires a customer to be registered and logged in to your site. If you are not requiring them to be registered and logged in it will fail.

Have a look and make sure they are logged in.

"Users must register before checking out" is selected. Also in WordPress settings "Anyone can register" is selected. And this doesn't happen for every transaction. I could understand if no one could register or check out.

Not sure what's happening have you tested with only store plugins enabled? It's possible that it might be a conflict with another plugin.

I'll try to check further on my end but if it's random it may be hard to nail down.

You can open the CIM payment php file and do var dumps to see what is actually being sent and received.

If you need further assistance with that you might want to open a premium support topic.

Are the transactions labeled "payment declined" just a catch all category for any transaction that had a problem? Because these never make it to Auth.Net I would think if there was a problem it would not record it in the admin as a transaction because there is no connection or response from Auth.Net

    Hey there.
Best would be to post a premium support topic.
But to try and help you out a bit go in the database.
Table wpsc_meta (with your db prefix).
Do a search for '_wpsc_auth_net_status' no quotes in the object_type field.

Look at an order that is declined (keep in mind the sale ID).
Then in the database for the meta_id that matches the sale ID look in the meta_value field. That might hold some info

Thanks. It was in the "meta_key" value But all it says is a:1:{s:14:"process_status";i:2;} which is what I expected. All the successful ones have more information.
