How to enable display of gallery?

After a long search, I think this plugin is nearly exactly what I’m looking for – image, youtube, and vimeo support with a custom gallery taxonomy. The one problem I’m having is that I can’t seem to get the gallery to display. I can see the post_content and the title, but not the gallery or the excerpt. I tried installing this on a fresh WP installation just to make sure it wasn’t a problem with the custom theme and saw the same result.

From the changelog, it sounds like there should be a display component. Can you tell me what I am missing?

Also, is there caption support for images and linked/embedded videos?
