How to edit themes on local host with eclipse? (2 posts)

Hey guys. I'm new to Linux but it's required for my job that I'm studying for.

I created a LAMP, MySQL db and all that stuff. Set up a wordpress and it's set up on localhost or better yet var/www.

However, I can't seem to edit or add anything because it's read-only locked. So anytime I want to add or edit my themes, I have to do it on the side and upload them through wp-admin site. This is very annoying because if I wanted to trouble shoot an issue or see my progress, I can not. So how can I access these files to add and edit with eclipse.

I'm also using GIT as it is a required technology for me to know as well.

Can you try Eclipse's forums regarding this? WordPress does not lock any files.
