How to Edit the "Home" link on the Menu Bar? (5 posts)

I'm trying to replace the "Home" link with something else on the main Menu Bar of the Weaver theme. Sounds like an easy task? Well, so far - 2 hours down the drainpipe and I've got nowhere.

I started with the obvious - checking the header and navigation files from the Appearance -> Editor interface. No luck. Then I proceeded searching inside ALL theme files (php and others) whithin the Weaver installation. To my sheer surprise - no luck.

Please tell me which part of the code controls the Menu Bar.

  2. Does this help?

If not, perhaps folks in the Weaver forum would be better able to help. Good luck!

This is not something that one needs to do with code.

The most obvious solution to this problem is to use the new custom menus that are a standard part of WordPress 3. You can make any menus you want.

But there are other ways to do this, too. In fact, Weaver has a check-box option to not display the Home item on the main menu. When you use this, however, you do need to properly use the Settings->Reading options for page display. You will want to set the front page to be your home landing page.

But there's no need at all to hunt through php code. Weaver has a really excellent help file, and just a quick glance at its table of contents would have revealed both a specific topic about "Home", and the information about custom menus.

LOL, I never bother to read help files because I get sleepy and bored. Thanks zoonini for the suggestion - it worked :)

  5. If you would please mark this thread as "resolved" (drop-down menu in the right column) it would be appreciated. Helps everyone keep better track of whose issues are still outstanding. Thanks!
