Support » Plugin: Page Builder Gutenberg Blocks – CoBlocks » How to edit custom block patterns?

    Hello,

I’m impressed by CoBlocks so far! It’s seems a really useful addition to my (minimalistic) theme, which is Neve. The option to create a customized group of blocks and save them to the list of block patterns is an amazing time saver.

The question: I can’t figure out how to edit or delete a custom block pattern once it’s saved. I assume that this is possible, or will be in the future? If so, what happens if I make changes to a custom pattern that has already been used on lots of pages?

Hey @pete3, I hope you are doing great.

I wish I could give you a more definitive answer. From what I was able to see, the patterns integrate with Gutenberg itself and are supplied by default by the Neve theme.

I would suggest reaching out to theme developers to see if their patterns can be edited or deleted

However, you can create reusable blocks that can be modified or deleted. You can find more information here:

I hope this helps, have a nice day,

    Hi Andrija,

Thank you for taking the time to reply!

Actually I meant editing the blocks that I create myself. CoBlocks gives me the option to select a group of blocks that I assembled myself, click it, and save it to be added to the list of block patterns. From there, I can insert it into any other page/post. That works perfectly fine. However, I did not find out how to edit a custom block pattern once saved. I didn’t think that’s related to Neve, but perhaps you’re right and it would work if I uninstall Neve.

I installed another plugin called Block Pattern Builder now, and that added a menu item “Block Patterns” to the WordPress menu. From there, I can edit my custom patterns. I hope a future version of CoBlocks will offer that too.

Indeed reusable blocks work fine, but they’re less suitable for my purpose since once changed, they are changed site wide. So they can’t be used for a paragraph with different text on each page.

    Thanks again!

Hi @pete3 did you know that you _can_ edit the existing design patterns. Since the design patterns are stored as a custom post type, you can simply go to https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=coblocks_pattern and edit/delete the patterns there.

Hopefully this answer helps someone; it took me a while to figure out.

Thank you @nickirongate! I didn’t find that option at the time. I’m currently still using the Block Pattern Builder.
