Support » Plugin: WordPress Twitter Bootstrap CSS » How to edit CSS/LESS?

  • Resolved Limboistik

    Hi there,

I have just recently discovered this plugin, and I already have a site setup for a client.

I had previously installed the WP-Bootstrap theme by 320press, and I had made manual changes to the CSS and LESS files locally before migrating live.

However, there are now performance issues and I was hoping to streamline and clean up the code. How do I port my CSS/LESS and use this plugin, instead of the theme?

I see that the plugin only allows basic changes, so would I still be able to edit the source CSS/LESS files, and then click “Compile CSS” to compile all of them, and it automatically minifies? What’s the recommended process?

It’s hard to say the best process here because as you say, only certain functionality is enabled in the compiler.

You can edit the variables.less file in the plugin, and compile using this instead (there is a button on the compiler to do this).

However, you would have to make a backup of this file before ever doing a plugin upgrade as this would get erased. I would really need to be able to build a mechanism to retain custom settings with an upgrade… that’s quite a bit of work and can’t say when this would get done.

And yes, it automatically creates a minified CSS so if you select minify option in the main settings, you’ll include the minified version automatically.

    I hope that helps.
