  • Hi,

I am very new to wordpress. We registered a website with wordpress and start developing.

I like to use “Twenty Eleven” theme for my website. After acivate this theme, now i want to change footer copyright text. I opened Appearence>>Editor>>Footer.php file. Here, i am able to edit the code but unable to save it.

Can you please suggest me how to proceed ?

  • Did you use to create the blog? I don’t believe you can edit the themes there.

If you’re hosting it yourself (on your own domain name and hosting provider) you’ll need to be able to write to that directory. Your host can help you get it set up to allow it.

We registered a website, not a blog. Now i need to change something in code.

    Please help me

Here, i am able to edit the code but unable to save it.

What error message do you get?

There is no error, but no save option.

Do you see a line like the one below?

“You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.”

If so, have you clicked on the link to the Codex article?

absolutely, when i click on codex, i am redirecting to another page. from there i am blind to proceed.

Please help, what i need to do from here?

Have you read the text in the Codex article?

Alternatively, you can download the file, edit it, then upload it using FTP.

Note that you will lose all changes if the theme is updated. You should create a child theme instead.

i read the text in codex, but really i cannot understand anything from this.

I want to open FTP location and upload/download files from there. Please suggest me a way to do this.

    Thanks in advance

You can find most things in the codex if you search google for it.
