how to drill down categories via custom taxonomy

  • From a category archive page I would like to be able to drill down via a custom taxonomy link, either on a widget or within a post. At the moment if I do this, it just shows all the posts in the custom taxonomy and not posts belonging to both the category and the custom taxonomy. I can’t seem to find a plugin that does this. Can anyone help me please?

  • Heya carrie001,

Not sure if this will solve your problem (based upon how I’m understanding your description of it), but did you check out the Taxonomies page in the Codex? Scroll down and check out the section on “Listing the terms“.

Hopefully that will prompt you in a good direction for the solution you desire.

    Cheers!

Thank you. I’ve just had a look and it sounds beyond my abilities. I have read a bit about the loop but would not know how to access it etc. Activating a plugin is more my level at the moment.

    Roger that, Carrie001!

Read through this plugin “Posts By Tag“.

In addition to listing posts by tags in the sidebar via a widget, there is information about the plugin’s ability to be used to display posts via a template function.

Hopefully this is closer to where you are and can fulfill your needs.

    Cheers! :)

Thanks for that. I’m going to give it a try.
