Support » Networking WordPress » How to disable WordPress multisite network

  • I’m new to website design and WordPress.

    I created my WordPress site sometime ago, and when I saw “enable multisite,” I ticked the box hoping it would be useful and easy to revert if I don’t like it.

    I was wrong! The discomfort is unbearable and now, I want to run my website without a multisite network.

    I only have one site installed on the network anyway. I don’t need the multisite network.

    I need help to disable the multisite without having to go through complex numbers and codes.

  • There a couple of steps that you have to make. First, remove the following line in the wp-config.php file:

    define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true);

    Then, restore the .htaccess to how it was before activating multisite.

    Thanks for your response.

    I’m illiterate about html but I was able to find the line.

    I saw 2 lines actually; they’re as follows:

    1. define( ‘wp_allow_multisite’, true);
    2. define ( ‘multisite’, true);

    I deleted both of them.

    I am at a loss as to how I should restore the .htaccess.
