    The default themes are actually there for a reason. The core requires a fallback theme in case the currently active theme can’t be found or is inaccessible for whatever reason. So, the default theme should be present, even if you’re not using it.

    You should be able to delete the older ones, and just have the latest default theme. (latest for whatever version of WP you have)
    And each version of WP only has one default theme that comes with it.

    Fine, but that is 1 theme.

    But why are 3 themes (twenty fifteen, sixteen en seventeen) installed with every new WordPress update? Is this a WordPress thing or can this come because WordPress was original installed by softaculous Installer?

    Yeah, it’s probably your installer doing it. The core installer doesn’t do that.

    Yes, this is indeed tiresome. I even tried adding the following code to the wp-config file and no luck.

    define(‘CORE_UPGRADE_SKIP_NEW_BUNDLED’, true);

    This bit of code DOES NOT prevent the additional bundled installation of the three default themes. I understand the need for one, but WTH, 3?

    Now every time WordPress updates, I get 2019, 2017, and 2016 themes installed. Again. I don’t want them and if I delete them, the next update restores them. GoDaddy, my service provider, says it’s not them, it’s WordPress that’s doing this. Can you guys talk and get this sorted out for your users, please?
